Whether your tour is in the morning or afternoon, you’ll want to know the best places to eat and what else there is to see nearby. These are honest, local recommendations — the kind of advice you’d get from someone who lives here and knows the area well.

Where to Eat in Punta Uva

Punta Uva isn’t a big town, but it has a few excellent spots to eat — from local sodas to high-end Caribbean restaurants. Here are some of my favorites.

Selvin’s Restaurant

📍 View on Google Maps
Selvin’s is a local institution and probably the best place around for authentic Caribbean food — think rice and beans cooked in coconut milk, grilled lobster, or fresh red snapper. It’s open Thursday through Sunday and a bit pricier than other spots, but if you want the real flavors of Talamanca, this is where to go.
If your tour is in the afternoon, it’s perfect for a big lunch beforehand. For morning tours, it makes a great stop for a late lunch or dinner once you finish — the evening atmosphere under the trees and soft lights makes it even more special.

Beachfront Snack Spot

Right on the sand, this simple beachside spot is ideal for a relaxed bite before or after kayaking. They serve local dishes, patacones, and cold drinks — nothing fancy, just the perfect place to sit under the palms and take in the sea breeze.

Argentine Steakhouse

If you’re in the mood for a hearty meal, this Argentine restaurant is one of the best options for dinner. Known for excellent steaks and friendly service, it’s a great way to end your day after the afternoon tour, or an early lunch if you’re heading out later.

Fish Grill Near Punta Uva

📍 View on Google Maps
A short drive from Punta Uva, this small grill specializes in fresh local fish. Everything is cooked over charcoal, and the quality is always excellent. It’s worth the short trip whether you’re finishing your morning tour or fueling up before heading out in the afternoon.

Manzanillo Classic Restaurant

📍 View on Google Maps
This iconic restaurant in Manzanillo has been open for over a century and was recently remodeled. It’s one of those places that feels like part of local history. If you’re exploring farther south after your tour, this is the perfect stop for lunch or dinner — traditional food, relaxed atmosphere, and a view of daily life in the village.

Local Soda – Budget-Friendly Option

📍 View on Google Maps
If you want to eat like a local, this small soda is a great option for breakfast or lunch. They serve classic Costa Rican dishes like casado, gallo pinto, and fruit juices at very affordable prices. It’s a simple, friendly place and a favorite among locals — great for a meal before or after your tour.
