Punta Uva serves as a favorite among visitors. It’s a small town that has stunning beaches, wildlife, a quiet atmosphere with beautiful viewpoints.

You will be kayaking and walking the jungle trails and beaches with a professional guide, visiting an amazing viewpoint and a cave. You’ll learn about history, culture, plants and wildlife while searching for a sloth out in the wild. The Caribbean Jungle is home to more than 300 bird species, big blue butterflies, interesting insects and other animals like poison dart frogs, iguanas, snakes, sloths, armadillos, several species of monkeys among others.

We believe every animal is an important part of an ecosystem and that they don’t belong behind a fence for human show. So the best way to support the sustainability is by ecotourism activities like this one.

This tour is in search of wildlife, so there’s a possibility that we might not see what we are out to find. The sloths are not in cages and move around freely on this beach and sometimes but hardly ever just don’t want to be seen. My son and I really enjoyed the fantastic tour Esteban guided us through! He guided us throughout how to get to the location, place to meet, time to start, so we make it without any delays just a day ahead! The hike with a clear view of active sloths, iguanas, turtles, birds, 100s years trees, amazing hidden cliffs, minister’s grave yards, the founders of the country— all has exceeded our expectations! We had a great recommendations as to the best hidden places for sunset 🌅, good food 🥘 to eat, etc. Esteban is very down to earth and really values and enjoys giving tours and knows all about it! I really enjoyed this tour. The guide Rob, spoke great English and had many fun facts about the plants and animals on the journey. The kayak tour was not too long and not short. I absolutely loved the tour. We saw lots of wildlife including sloths, spider monkeys, macaws and turtles. Esteban was very knowledgeable and passionate about the area and the wildlife. My boyfriend and I both agreed this was the best part of our trip. Esteban was super friendly and was able to show us tons of great wildlife (sloths, monkeys, turtles, iguanas etc, the most we saw in one place anywhere in CR) and gave us lots of tips on what to check out in Puerto Viejo. Esteban was very knowledgable, made us feel safe and comfortable on both the trail and kayaking, and was very attentive to nature pointing out several animals for us to see and learn about from him. Meeting location was very simple to find and we were greeting promptly by the host. There is parking available on the beach that we used without any concerns. Rob was a fantastic guide! He was fun and engaging and really loved to his share knowledge about the flora and fauna and some indigenous traditions. The hike was spectacular, the kayaking was a little underwhelming but relaxing and Rob made it fun.
